Two of the four people found dead Sunday in a Crowley home were shot multiple times, while a 13-year-old girl there was strangled, authorities said Tuesday as they released the causes of death for the three.
Linda Gonzalez, 18, and Xiomara Leon, 34, died from multiple gunshot wounds, while 13-year-old Yasmine Zavala died by strangulation, Tarrant County Medical Examiner officials said.
Police said the medical examiner has not released an official cause of death for 36-year-old Samuel Morales, but Crowley Police Department Chief Luis Soler said investigators think Morales died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Soler said officers found the four people dead along with one survivor — a 9-year-old boy — at the home in the 200 block of Kennedy Drive shortly after 5 p.m. The boy called a relative and told her that a man attempted suicide. The relative then called police at about 4:15 p.m.
“Initially the 9-year-old was at the residence when all this went down,” said Soler. "That child is fine and in protective custody with us. We’re talking with the child and doing forensic evidence to determine what exactly happened, because, at this point, it seems he was the only witness.”
Soler said Gonzalez, Zavala and the surviving boy were Leon' children. Zavala was a student at David Walker Intermediate School, while Gonzalez was a recent graduate from Crowley High School, where she worked as a teacher's aide.
Leon had been in a relationship with Gonzalez for about four years, Soler said, and was not the father of any of the children. Soler said the family had no history of violence.
