North Texas prosecutors have dismissed a criminal case against a woman accused of helping middle-school students vandalize a neighbor's house and causing extensive damage.
Tarrant County officials said Thursday a felony charge of criminal mischief against 43-year-old Tara Mauney of Colleyville has been dropped.
She was accused in 2012 of helping several students buy toilet paper to litter a residence where girls were having a sleepover. Mustard and peanut butter were smeared or used to write graffiti. Chicken was left in a mailbox. Police at the time said damages amounted to $6,000.
No children were charged in the matter but two boys acknowledged participating in the vandalism.
Mauney agreed to pay for damages and write her neighbor a letter of apology. The neighbor then requested to have the case dismissed.
