Carrollton Truck Driver Pleads Guilty in Child Porn Case

Officials said a former Carrollton truck driver faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of transporting child pornography.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip in 2012 that 35-year-old James Marshall Thomas emailed images of child pornography, according to a statement issued by U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldaña.

While FBI agents worked to obtain a federal search warrant, they learned that Thomas had moved out of his apartment in Carrollton and that he worked as a cross-country truck driver, officials said. They found him two years later at a freight delivery destination.

Authorities said they arrested Thomas after searching his laptop and finding child pornography and discovering he responded to an advertisement on Craigslist by stating, in part, "pedo perv here."

Investigators said analysis revealed that Thomas had searched for child pornography and used Skype to chat about raping young boys and exchange child pornography. Officials said they found nearly 400 images and 28 videos of child pornography on his computer and thumb drive.

Thomas, who has been in federal custody since his arrest in September, faces up to 20 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine and a lifetime of supervised release.
