Carrollton Police Release Video of Chase, Crash

Carrollton police have released dash camera footage of a short police chase that ended in a crash last Thursday.

Police said they stopped 33-year-old Brandon Robinson on Trinity Mills near Josey Lane, however in the video he is heard giving the officer another name and birth date.

Officer: OK, what’s your name?
Robinson: Patrick Williams.
Officer: Patrick Williams?

The officer goes on to ask about his birth date.

Officer: What’s your date of birth, Patrick?
Robinson: My date of birth is Feb. 20, 1984.
Officer: So how old does that make you?
Robinson: That makes me... Sir, come on.
Officer: I’m asking.
Robinson: I’m 32, man.
Officer: You’re 32?
Robinson: Yes, sir. I just turned 32.
Officer: You just turned 32? OK, do you know what year it is right now?

The video shows the officer returning to his patrol vehicle where his partner informs him the vehicle is stolen. The officer is then heard shouting for “Patrick” to exit his vehicle, and that’s when Robinson slams the door and drives away.

An innocent driver was hospitalized after authorities said his vehicle was T-boned by a car involved in a police chase in Carrollton.

Police chased him for a little more than a minute and 30 seconds, often at high speeds, down Josey Lane and into a neighborhood. That’s where he turned on a street that led him back to Josey Lane, where police say he sped into the intersection at Haymeadow Road and slammed into an SUV, flipping the SUV on its side.

The driver of the SUV was momentarily trapped inside his vehicle but only suffered minor injuries.

Robinson remains at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in critical condition and on life support, according to Carrollton police. Charges against him are dependent upon his recovery.
