Carrollton Chase Ends at Dallas County Jail

A man who led police on a chase from Carrollton to the city of Dallas ended his run from police outside the Dallas County Jail.

Carrollton police said one of their officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area of the 2000 block of Luna Road and a group of people suspected of trying to break into a tractor-trailer.

Some of the men fled on foot in the Farmers Branch area and another man fled in an SUV. The Carrollton officer chased the vehicle into Dallas and was assisted by the sheriff's office, Irving Police and Dallas Police's Air 1 helicopter.

DSO was reportedly able to spike the vehicle's tires during the chase.

The vehicle stopped in the 100 block of Commerce Street in front of the jail and offices for Dallas County Sheriff.

The driver was taken into custody by officers armed with rifles and shields.

He has been identified as 54-year-old Keith Leonard Randle of Dallas.

Carrollton police said it did not appear the group was able to steal anything from the tractor-trailer by the time the officer spotted them.

Police also said while Randle may eventually end up where his chase ended at the Dallas County Jail, he will be in the Carrollton City Jail to face an evading arrest charge.
