Carlo's Bakery to Open in Dallas March 19

Get ready for lobster rolls and cannolis made famous by Carlo's Bakery, which appears on the popular TLC series "Cake Boss," when they open a store in Dallas March 19.

"We're opening March 19, 8:30 a.m.," Mauro Castano announced on NBC 5 Today Monday morning. "We can't wait. Dallas was one of the first spots we looked into to open a bakery. It took a little time to find a spot, but now we're so happy to be here."

Castano and Maurizio Belgiovine came to town to check on production of Carlo's Bakery Dallas and familiarize themselves with the city. They also took in a Dallas Maverick's game Sunday night. The men posted a picture of themselves in Dallas ballcaps on Twitter saying "The #CarlosBakery #Dallas invasion has begun."

"And, I think here in Dallas, we're gonna do really well," Castano said. "People here are so nice. Our kind of people, family."

Valastro announced in January he would open his 13th store in Preston Center. NBC 5 confirmed it with a visit to 8319 Preston Road, where workers were busy transforming a former La Madeline into Carlo's Bake Shop.

"This is one of the smoothest jobs we've had outside of New Jersey," Castano said. "Me and Maurizio, we take care of, besides filming and doing cakes and stuff, we get on emails and phones and take care of the bakeries. And we have had an easy time in Dallas."

"We're blessed in Dallas." said Belgiovine. "A lot of the guys here are working hard and doing a great job getting this place ready for us."

When the store opens in March, Belgiovine and Castano advise you head straight for the Italian classics.

"You can't leave without a lobster tail," recommended Belgiovine. The flaky pastry crust is filled with French cream and a touch of Bailey's Irish Cream.

"Lobster tail is his favorite. My favorite is the cannoli," said Castano. "The reason why those two items do well, is because we do them the old school way. We've got to do things the way we've always done it, and that's not gonna change."
