Four people were hospitalized after the car their were in hit a tree in Mesquite.

Mesquite police continue to investigate an early morning accident that sent four people to the hospital.

Police said four peple in a black Chevrolet Cobalt were traveling south on Baker Drive near Larchmond Drive, when the car left the road and hit a tree.

The accident happened at around 3 a.m. in a neighborhood north of U.S. Highway 80 and west of LBJ Freeway.

The force of the accident threw the engine from the car, officers said the engine landed in the street.

An adult and three teenagers were taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas for treatment. Their conditions had not been released Sunday morning.
