Car Crashes Into Arlington Home, Family Displaced

A family was displaced and a driver was injured after a car slid off the road and crashed into an Arlington home early Friday morning, police say.

Speed and alcohol, police said, are likely what led the driver to apparently lose control on Southeast Parkway at about 1 a.m. Off the roadway, the driver crashed through two fences and a patio before slamming into the back of the home and coming to a stop in the living room.

The driver was transported to a hospital in unknown condition.

Six or seven people were inside the home at the time, according to police. One of the residents inside the home told NBC 5 their father was in the bathroom at the time of the crash, but usually sleeps in a chair near where the car stopped.

Police said the house is not structurally safe, so the residents won't be able to stay. A relative offered to house the family. The Red Cross is also assisting.

The residents said they were supposed to leave for a vacation Saturday, but the crash might have affected their plans.
