Cannabis-Based Smoothie Shop Plans to Open in Frisco

Cannabis will be a primary ingredient used at a new business with plans to move to Collin County.

The name of the business is AmeriCanna Cafe, and its owners say they plan to infuse cannabis into smoothies and juice. But it's all completely legal.

They say they'll use hemp seeds found in a type of cannabis that doesn't have THC like marijuana.

Steve Rash is the CEO of the café's parent company, North American Cannabis Holdings.

"It will not give you any of the hallucinogenic affects from marijuana. It is hemp. It's a cousin of marijuana but it has none of the THC," Rash said.

Plans were announced earlier this month to open a café in Frisco. Rash says Frisco was chosen since the city is seeing a population boom.

"A lot of people are moving in and we think it's a good opportunity for us," he said.

Investors are looking at a location near the intersection of Wade Boulevard and Preston Road. The city of Frisco says it has not received any plans about the business.

Rash says he wants to use hemp seeds in drinks because of their antioxidants and beneficial fatty acids.
