CPS Workers Scrutinized After Child's Death

Texas Child Protective Services officials say they expect to punish employees involved in the case of a 2-year-old toddler whose body was found buried this month in southeast Austin.

Spokesman Patrick Crimmins told the Austin American-Statesman on Sunday it's "likely" the agency will take some form of action but that it is still reviewing the case of Colton Turner. He didn't say how many employees were involved, what problems were discovered or when action would be taken.

The boy's family members have previously said state officials failed to properly handle reports that his mother was abusive. Police say Turner had been the subject of four investigations since he was six months old.

Police charged his mother and her boyfriend with tampering with physical evidence after the child's body was buried.
