Two Hospitalized After Robbery Attempt, Shooting

Both transported to area hospital

Dallas police say a business owner was struck in the head with a barbell during a robbery attempt Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were called to A and L Office Furniture on the 4300-block of Ross Avenue after the business owner opened fire on his attacker.

According to police, after he was struck in the head, the business owner reached into his fanny pack and pulled out a handgun.  He then shot his attacker once in the stomach.

Bystanders managed to flag down a motorcycle officer who secured the scene and arrested the alleged robber.

Both men were transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, police said.  The business owner is in good condition.  The alleged robber, whose identity has not yet been revealed, is in serious condition and was in surgery at 3:30 p.m.
