Burleson Soldier Honored at Fort Carson

A fellow soldier says three colleagues who were killed in a rocket attack in Afghanistan embodied the best of their unit.

Fort Carson held a memorial service at the Army post's chapel Wednesday for William Moody of Burleson, Texas; Ember Alt of Killeen, Texas, S.C.; and Robert Ellis, of Kennewick, Wash. They died June 18. All were assigned to the 43rd Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, based at Fort Carson in Colorado.

The brigade's 1st Lt. Natalie Lopez-Barnard said they embodied the best of the unit.

Ellis was on his first deployment to war.

Alt, who ran track at Killeen High School in Texas, was remembered for having an inner fire.

Moody had deployed to Afghanistan three times and was a married father of three.
