Burleson Police Search for Suspect in Violent Attack of 90-Year-old Woman

A 90-year-old Crowley woman is back home after spending two days in the hospital following a violent attack in the Burleson Alberton's grocery store parking lot.

"I thought I was getting in my car," said the woman, who doesn't want to use her name. "The next thing, I woke up in the hospital."

She has bruises on her left hand, forearm and eye. She said she does not remember what happened after she was about to load groceries into her car.

The attack left her unconscious in the parking lot.

"A victim who was in the wrong place at the wrong time," said Burleson Police Detective Cameron Pilgrim. "And wasn't aware there was somebody out there just looking for someone to prey on and take advantage of."

Burleson police released surveillance video of the suspect's car, a sedan, and posted photos to the department's Facebook page. Police are hoping someone witnessed the attack or knows something about it and comes forward.

"It doesn't happen here," Pilgrim explained. "And so the fact that it did has got everybody on edge."

"Well, I understand that," the victim said as she cried. "I'm 90 years old and I just really didn't ever expect anything like this."

She said it's not about getting the money back. She just wants her purse and treasured photos back, including one of her late husband.

"And I hope this never happens to anybody else," she said.
