Broken Water Service Sends Geyser Above Oak Cliff

Dallas water utility crews have turned off the water supply to a broken water service that was spewing water more than two stories high Thursday evening in Oak Cliff.

The broken system was reported in the alley at the 2100 block of Burlington Boulevard, near South Oak Cliff Boulevard.

The curb stop, or cut-off valve, dislodged from the water service, expelling water in to the air, said Dallas Water Utilities Assistant Director Randy Payton.

The call came in at about 5 p.m., and the geyser was squelched by about 5:45 p.m. when crews installed a new curb stop.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation by the water utility.
