Boy, 11, Rescued from Mud Near Houston-Area Creek

An 11-year-old boy who became mired in mud nearly up to his thighs while trying to find turtles has been rescued from near a Houston-area creek.

The Galveston County Daily News reports it's the second high-mud rescue this month for Friendswood police.

Chief Robert Wieners says authorities were alerted late Monday afternoon about someone stuck near Clear Creek. Police said the boy was with two friends looking for turtles when he became trapped. His friends ran for help.

Emergency responders rescued the unharmed boy, who was stuck for about 40 minutes.

A Friendswood police officer on Dec. 14 rescued a woman who got stuck up to her waist in mud near the same creek while searching for a dog.
