Body Recovered from Joe Pool Lake

Man's body found not far from where he went under

The body of a 25-year-old man was recovered from Joe Pool Lake early Wednesday morning.

Ulysses C. Coleman II, who was believed to have drowned Sunday, was found near the dam  at about 5:30 a.m.

Coleman's body was found not far from where he was seen slipping beneath the water as he tried to reach his drifting boat.

At about 2:45 p.m. at Lynn Creek Park, near Jet Ski Beach, Grand Prairie police said Coleman and a woman had just finished "tubing" in the lake when their boat started to drift. Coleman, helped the woman into the boat, but was not able to get aboard himself as the boat continued to drift away.

According to police, those on board tried to get the engine started and that's when the tubing rope became entangled in the boat's propeller.

Coleman slipped beneath the water and was not found until Wednesday. His body has since been turned over to the Dallas County medical examiner.

Coleman's drowning was the second at the lake that day.  Earlier in the day, a father of two, 32-year-old Jesus Castaneda, drowned while trying to rescue his children in the swimming area.
