Body Found in Fort Worth's West Fork of the Trinity River

Fire officials do not believe the body is missing kayaker Edgar Castro

A body was spotted in Fort Worth's West Fork of the Trinity River Tuesday, fire department officials say.

Officials were called to the 4900 block of East 1st Street, near Gateway Park between Interstate 30 and Texas Highway 121.

The identity of the person has not been confirmed, but Kyle Falkner with the Fort Worth Fire Department said they have reasonable confidence that the person is not missing kayaker Edgar Castro.

Castro was last seen kayaking on the Trinity River Saturday with a friend when the pair ran into trouble. Castro's friend was able to swim back to shore, but Castro hadn't been seen since.

Officials searched for the missing man throughout the weekend and transitioned the rescue operation to a recovery operation on Monday.
