Balch Springs police are investigating a body that was found dead inside a home as a homicide.

Around 10:15 p.m. Monday night, police were informed of a possible body in a home in the 14300 block of Cimarron Drive.

Officers arrived at the location and met with the resident who confirmed there was a dead body inside the house.

Police are investigating the situation as a homicide and said they have one person in custody.

Identifying information on the deceased person was not revealed by police pending notification of the family. Balch Springs police said the Dallas County Medical Examiner has taken custody of the body and will perform an autopsy.

A neighbor in the area told NBC 5's Jeff Smith that the woman who owned the home had a volatile relationship with a boyfriend. The neighbors told NBC 5 they heard screaming and later heard the woman's boyfriend drive away in his car. Police have yet to confirm any of those details.
