Black Jack Pizza in Dallas Must Change Name

A family-owned pizza shop in Dallas must change its name after receiving a cease and desist demand from a major pizza chain.

Since 1990, Black Jack Pizza has been selling pies under that name at its two Dallas locations on Martin Luther King Junior, and North Saint Augustine.

But that's the same name used by a Colorado-based pizza chain.

Dallas' Black Jack founder Terry Jones says he does worry changing the name could mean losing customers, but promises nothing else will change.

"Either we pay a lot of lawyers to get it solved for us, or we move on and just get on with our lives," said Jones. "But our food is going to be the same, the service is going to be great."

Jones is holding a contest to rename the Dallas pizza place. The naming contest runs through May 23, that's when the owners will pick their favorite.
