A billboard worker has died after falling about 80 feet from a sign near Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office on Tuesday identified the victim as 40-year-old John Burnette of Boyd.

Arlington police said the accident happened around midday Monday when Burnette leaned against the door of the cage on his cherry picker and the door gave way.   He fell an estimated 85 feet inside the billboard and was stuck on a catwalk.

Burnette was rescued and transported to Arlington Memorial Hospital in critical condition where he later died.

Investigators did not immediately say whether Burnett was wearing a safety harness.
