Bike Ride to Honor Fallen Dallas, Baton Rouge Officers

A 1,700 mile bike ride is underway for a group of police officers remembering some of their fellow officers who died in the last year.

Police officers from Dallas, Fort Worth and Los Angeles are part of the group cycling from Dallas to Washington, D.C.

The officers laid a wreath at El Centro College, the site of the ambush of police officers in Dallas on July 7, 2016.

The group is expected to stop in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to remember fallen officers in that city.

"At any given time any one of us can lose our lives and whether it's in the line of duty, whether it's a traffic accident, however it may be, but what it means to us is we have the ability today to be able to make a little bit of a personal sacrifice at the fitness point to just honor the lives of those who tragically lost their lives," Los Angeles Police Sergeant Dave Budek said.

The group of cyclists began their journey from Dallas Police Headquarters Saturday Morning at 6 a.m.
