Three Escape Before Benbrook Home Devoured by Flames

Call reporting fire came from inside the home, officials say.

Three people were able to escape a $1.6 million Benbrook home before it was consumed by fire Thursday afternoon.

Officials told NBC 5 someone inside the home on Corriente Lane called 911 and reported the fire. The three people inside the home all managed to escape without injury.

As Texas Sky Ranger flew toward the home, flames and smoke could be seen from more than 10 miles away. Upon arrival, large flames could be seen devouring the roof after having consumed much of the inside of the home.

The 7,866-square-foot house was built in 2008 and was worth an estimated $1.6 million. The home is located in a gated community near the intersection of Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 377 in southwest Tarrant County.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but police believe it was most likely caused by the high winds sparking the embers of an outdoor fire pit.

Firefighters from Fort Worth, White Settlement, River Oaks, Parker County and Edgecliff Village assisted Benbrook in fighting the fire.

No injures were reported and residents of the home are now staying with other family members.
