Beloved Oak Cliff Restaurant Closing Down

A beloved North Oak Cliff staple for the last 62 years is closing its doors at the end of the month.

El Corazon De Tejas, a vintage Tex-Mex restaurant located on the corner of Beckley Avenue and Davis Street, is closing on April 30.

The Cuellar family opened the restaurant back in 1955. Gilbert Cuellar, Jr. says the building they're in is being sold and their lease has ended.

Cuellar released the following statement on Wednesday, which read, in part:

"We thank you for all of your support and patronage and for promoting El Corazon throughout our time. We will sorely miss each and everyone of you.

We plan to re-establish El Corazon in another location with the same menu and recipes as early as this summer. But for now, we invite you to visit Fajita Ranch in Plano. Many of our El Corazon team will be relocating there until the new location opens; so you will be among old friends."

El Corazon won D Magazine's "Best Tex-Mex in Dallas" in 2015 and 2016.
