Baylor Fraternity Suspended Over Mexican-Themed Party

A Baylor University fraternity has been suspended for what the school has referred to as a "culturally insensitive event" held over the weekend.

Hundreds of students gathered Monday on the Waco campus to speak out against the Kappa Sigma fraternity and its Mexican-themed party, which was held off-campus on Saturday.

Photos posted on social media show students at a party dressed in ponchos and sombreros.

One student tweeted photos of some party-goers dressed as construction workers, and one party-goer appeared to be wearing brown facepaint. The university has not confirmed those details.

The Hispanic Student Association condemned the party.

"What we had today was a demonstration," said Baylor student Damian Moncada. "A demonstration advocating for unity and respect for God's diverse creation."

The Christian university and the national chapter of Kappa Sigma have suspended the Baylor chapter pending an investigation.
