Basketball Trifecta: Lancaster, DeSoto, Lincoln Win State Titles

Schools celebrate championship victories

Three Dallas-area high schools are celebrating winning state championships in basketball.

DeSoto High School won the 6A State Championship after beating previously undefeated Atascocita High School 73-54 in San Antonio.

"We worked all season for this. This was the goal from the beginning," DeSoto Senior Marques Bolden said. "We had three tough teams coming down there and we were the icing on the cake. We were the last team to finish the sweep."

Lancaster High School repeated as Class 5A State Champions. The Tigers held off Fort Bend Elkins 67-64. In an earlier round, Elkins beat Fort Worth's Dunbar High School.

"I'm just glad we can celebrate at the end of the season like this. I love my team and my family," Lancaster senior Darius Anderson said.

Anderson was named the game's Most Valuable Player.

"After DeSoto and Lincoln won, we were just excited because it's all a family and we all love each other," Anderson said.

Lincoln High School in Dallas took home the 4A title with a 75-72 win over Silsbee

"For the Dallas schools to win state, it feels special," Lincoln Senior Adrian Baker said. "We promised that we would bring it back to the community and we actually kept that promise."

DeSoto and Lancaster hosted rallies on Sunday afternoon.
