Bar Fight Spills Into Parking Lot, Man Killed

A man has died after being shot outside of a Fort Worth bar early Friday morning, police say.

Workers at Picante Sports Cantina on East Rosedale tell NBC 5 that what started as an exchange of words between two groups inside the bar, which was filled with nearly 100 customers, spilled into the parking lot where gunfire erupted just after 1 a.m.

Employees said they locked the door and told customers to get down on the floor until police could arrive after they heard about two dozen gunshots outside.

Despite the rounds of gunfire heard, only one person was injured.  The injured man was transported to an area hosptial where he underwent surgery.  Sometime after 7 a.m., the man died, police said.

Homicide detectives are now leading the investigation into the shooting.

“It’s scary, but you have to keep your calm. You have to keep calm and try to keep people in there and tell them it’s safe and sound inside,” said bartender Luis Rodriguez.

Witnesses said the shooter took off in a white Range Rover.  Police pulled over a similar SUV near the bar and questioned the people inside, though it is not clear if any of them were arrested in connection with the shooting.
