Bald Eagle Euthanized After Being Shot Near Houston

A $2,000 reward is being offered for information on who shot a bald eagle near Houston that had to be euthanized Tuesday due to its injuries.

KPRC-TV reported the bird was shot in the Anahuac area, southeast of Houston, and was gently captured by Chambers County deputies and state game wardens.

The bird was transferred to the Wildlife Center of Texas to be treated for injuries. Veterinarians said the bird suffered injuries to its beak and was blinded in the shooting.

KPRC reported the eagle was euthanized Tuesday morning.

Officials have not released any further information about the shooting or the investigation.
