Baby Injured in Richardson House Fire

A baby injured in a morning house fire in Richardson is expected to be OK.

The mother of the child called 911 to report her home on fire along the 2300 block of Shady Creek Drive at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

When firefighters arrived, fire and smoke were pouring out of the one-story home. Firefighters were able to rescue the child.

The baby was taken to an area hospital to be checked out, but should be OK, according to Richardson Fire Chief Alan Palomba.

The mother wasn't injured, Palomba said.

The house is likely a total loss due to fire and smoke, he said.  The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
