A man was killed in the parking lot of an Austin grocery store during what police say was a drug deal gone wrong.
The Austin American-Statesman reports that officers responding to reports of shots fired early Friday morning found 32-year-old Jeffry Rudy Sierra Lopez dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Nineteen-year-old John Paul Montoya was arrested and charged with murder. He remained in Travis County jail Monday on $400,000 bond. Jail records did not list an attorney for him.
According to an affidavit, Lopez had arrived at the H-E-B Plus grocery store with three other people late that night to buy drugs from Montoya and another man. The group began to argue about money, and a fight broke out, followed by gunfire.
