Austin Man Arrested After Slow-Speed Chase

An Austin man has been charged with felonies after police said he stole three luxury vehicles, burglarized a bank and led police on a slow-speed chase.

The Austin American-Statesman reported that 23-year-old Damian Armstrong was being held Tuesday on five felony charges. He was arrested Sunday after Austin police say he fled in a 2014 Porsche Cayenne SUV valued at $122,000.

Police said he stole the vehicles and other items from a dealership before breaking into a bank and triggering an alarm.

Police said Armstrong left an SUV hatch open, which activated a speed-control feature during the chase. Police shot him twice with a stun gun when he exited to close the hatch.

Armstrong is being held at the Travis County Jail on $225,000 bond. Online records didn't indicate an attorney.
