Arts of Collin County Changes Name

Frisco pulls out of project; prompts name change

The Arts of Collin County has changed their name to The Arts Center of North Texas in an effort to drum up enough money to keep the project alive.

Organizers said they believe calling it The Arts Center of North Texas more accurately defines the project as a destination dedicated to the arts that serves a broad region of communities.

The name change is meant to better reflect the evolution of the region scope and, according to the center’s press release, support of the arts park during the last seven years.

The cities of Plano, Allen and Frisco were supposed to fund the project equally. But Frisco voters decided it wasn’t the best way to spend their tax dollars. Thus, organizers now need to raise millions of dollars to move the project from the design phase to the building phase.

A new logo and branding are coming soon.
