Army Veteran Dies After Hit-and-Run: Lewisville Police

A 32-year-old Army veteran died Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene in Lewisville Monday night.

Michael Singleton died as a result of the injuries he suffered when a vehicle hit him near the intersection of North Garden Ridge Boulevard and Main Street between 9:45 and 10:15 p.m., according to Lewisville Police Department Captain Dan Rochelle.

Police said Singleton was crossing the street when he was struck and that he did not appear to be using the crosswalk. A short time later, two people passing by found him lying unresponsive in the middle of the road. Singleton was then transported by chopper to Medical Center Plano in critical condition.

Singleton's mother, Sheri Parks, said he was an Army veteran who was discharged for medical reasons after developing Tourette's syndrome and other issues. She said he was engaged to be married.

Police said they have no leads and no video of the incident has been uncovered.

Investigators said they are looking for information involving Singleton's death. They asked that anyone with any information about the incident contact the Lewisville Police Department at 972-219-TIPS (8477) or Denton County Crime Stoppers at 800-388-TIPS (8477).
