Arlington Police: Suspected Drunk Driver Takes Out Railroad Crossing, Busy Street Closed

Union Pacific crews battled the elements as they worked to repair a badly damaged railroad crossing in Arlington.

Police say overnight a suspected drunk driver crashed into one of the automated arms at the crossing, which is along S. Collins Street near Abram Street.

The wreck took out one of the arms completely and damaged a second one.

The driver was taken into custody.

All northbound lanes of Collins Street between Abram and Division are closed. Southbound traffic can still get through the area.

Arlington Police say it could be well into Monday afternoon before Collins Street is reopened.

Drivers trying to get northbound can take Stadium Drive or Cooper Street to get around the closure.
