Arlington police are warning about a man who is exposing himself to woman near Lake Arlington. (Published Monday, Aug 4, 2014)

Kim Eaton and Stacy Smith say Lake Arlington is one of their favorite places to go running — and that’s why they were disturbed to learn Arlington police are looking for a man who has reportedly been exposing himself to women in that area.

“You’re always in the zone [when you’re running],” said Smith. “You don’t really expect anyone to come out from anywhere. So it just really catches you off guard.”

Since June 28, there have been five reported encounters with the man, three near Bowman Springs Park on Lake Arlington, one near Interstate-20 and U.S. Highway 287 and one just off of U.S. 287 in Mansfield.

In each case, the female victims said a naked man pulled up alongside them in his car while they were jogging, then made inappropriate comments to them before eventually driving off.

Those victims snapped pictures of his car, which is described as a faded red, two-door 1995 — 1999 Dodge Neon.

They were also able to help police come up with a composite sketch of the man.

Since releasing those items to the public on Friday, investigators said they’ve received several tips, including at least one that’s turned into a solid lead.

Police officials won’t comment on what that lead is, citing the ongoing investigation.

Eaton and Smith hope it’s the break officers need to make an arrest — so the only thing they have to worry about when they go running is finishing their workout.

“It’s hard enough to get out and run, but if you’re afraid of going through something like that, that makes it even harder,” said Eaton.

If you have any information about this case or think you may have seen the man or his car, you’re asked to call the Arlington Police Department.
