Arlington Gets Dressed Up for ACM Weekend

When it came time for the Academy of Country Music Awards to decide how to celebrate its 50th anniversary, ACM President and CEO Bob Romeo said it was a “no-brainer” – the event had to come to Texas.

“I don’t have to say the word big,” said Romeo.

And it truly is big. It took crews a full month to dress up AT&T Stadium for the awards show. Looking at the finished product, Romeo says it’s better than anything he could have imagined.

“I don’t think anybody can grasp the enormity of what we’ve got,” said Romeo.

The ACM weekend is so enormous, not even AT&T Stadium has enough room for it all.

Across the street at Globe Life Park, crews were in overdrive on Thursday, setting up for the ACM Party for a Cause, a two-day music festival that features some of the biggest names in country on three performance stages. Each night on the main stage, the country superstars of today will pair up with country legends to perform one-of-a-kind duets.

“Man, it’s just a big event,” said Logan Levisay, a vendor at the ACM Party for a Cause.

Levisay and his team from Twisted J Apparel spent the day Thursday setting up their booth at the ballpark. They say their excitement is already at a 10, and they can’t wait to find out what it will be like when the festival kicks off on Friday.

“They say there’s going to be like 30,000 people,” said Levisay. “It’s going to be an awesome event out here.”

The ACM Awards will take place Sunday at AT&T Stadium at 7 p.m. Gates at Globe Life Park open at noon Friday for the ACM Party for a Cause.
