Man Dies After Shooting at Collin County's Hurricane Creek Golf Course

Suspected shooter arrested, held on $500,000 bond

One person has died and another has been arrested following a fatal shooting at a Collin County golf course Wednesday morning that prompted the lock down of an elementary school.[[403798636,R]]

Collin County Sheriff's deputies said they were called to the Hurricane Creek Golf Course at about 9:40 a.m. following a shooting.

Deputies arrived to find 55-year-old Julio Garcia injured with an apparent gunshot wound. Garcia was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

During a search for the shooter, police ordered nearby Joe K Bryant Elementary into lock down.

A short time later, deputies located and arrested 20-year-old John Robert Sim in connection with the shooting.

Officials have released few details in the investigation but did say the shooting was not a "stranger on stranger" crime and that the shooting appears to be the result of a conflict between the two men.

Sim is being held in the Collin County Detention Facility on $500,000 bond; He is expected to be charged with murder.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Collin County Sheriff's Department with the assistance of the Anna police.
