American Airlines recently announced that it will help sponsor the Colonial Golf Tournament in Fort Worth.
The tournament has been hosted at the Colonial Country Club since 1946.
The title sponsor, Dean & DeLuca, signed a 6 year agreement but backed out after the 2017 tournament.
The Colonial needed to then come up with more than $11 million dollars to host the tournament.
There are reports that Fort Worth city leaders are hoping to move away from the title sponsor format, and bring on several different large companies as contributing sponsors.
American Airlines released a statement saying "Colonial is a Fort Worth institution, and as a Fort Worth-based company, American is delighted to support the tournament in 2018."
