American Airlines Flight Lands at D/FW Airport After Report of Blown Tire

American Airlines Flight 70 from Las Vegas to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport made an emergency landing Tuesday afternoon after blowing a tire on takeoff, NBC 5 has learned.

At about 1:30 p.m., the pilot of the Boeing 737-800 notified passengers of the blown tire but told that they shouldn't worry and that the landing wouldn't feel that out of the ordinary.

Just after 2 p.m., the flight landed without incident.

Kelly McDonough, a passenger on the flight, said the landing was a little tense.

"You never know if you have a problem like that if the front might collapse and you do a belly-flop.," McDonough said. "But nobody seemed to be worried."

Emergency vehicles were waiting just off the runway as the plane touched down, but with no injuries to report they weren't needed.

American Airlines and the FAA have not yet issued any statements on the incident.

NBC 5's Jeff Smith contributed to this report.
