Fire Cancels American Airlines Flight in Hong Kong

An American Airlines Los Angeles-bound flight from Hong Kong was canceled Monday after a container being loaded into the cargo bay caught fire.

The fire at Hong Kong International Airport was caught on amateur video.

It took place before any passengers or crew were on the aircraft.

Video and still photos of the scene showed flames and smoke rising from the container.

Firefighters responded to put out the blaze on the tarmac.

One airport worker was injured. The injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

A spokeswoman for the Fort Worth-based airline said the container was still on the loading equipment when flames broke out.

She added that the airline was looking into the cause.

American Airlines flight 192 was scheduled to depart Hong Kong at 6:10 p.m. local time before the fire forced the cancellation.
