Allen Teen Thwarts Home Invasion

KXAS

Police say an Allen teenager's quick thinking brought a swift end to an armed-robbery attempt.

Police said two men who tried to rob an Allen family Friday morning were arrested when the couple's teenage son called police.

Investigators said Alfred Rosales and Michael Enriquez kicked in the door of a home in the 1200 block of Cordova Drive and forced Larry and Darci Laabs into a bathroom at gunpoint at about 7 a.m.

But the quick thinking of the couple's son helped bring an end to a situation that could have ended tragically, police said. The 16-year-old boy heard the commotion, hid in his bedroom closet and called 911.

Dispatchers said the teenager was calm and composed while on the phone despite his parents' situation.

Allen officers arrived at the home while Rosales and Enriquez were still inside. After a short chase, both were caught, police said.

Rosales and Enriquez both had handguns, police said. Both men were charged with aggravated kidnapping and felony burglary.

Larry and Darci Laabs were not seriously injured, police said.
