Communities in Collin County are rallying to support a firefighter whose home burned over the weekend.
Greg Fenn is used to fighting fires, but not like this.
Early Saturday morning, a blaze tore through the Allen firefighter's home in McKinney. Fenn and his wife were sleeping upstairs when he said he heard a noise in his garage.
He expected to find an intruder. Instead, he saw flames.
"My reaction was disbelief," Fenn said.
Fenn said smoke alarms failed to wake up his children, ages 3 and 5 years, so he got them outside as fast as possible.
The family watched while dozens of firefighters from McKinney, Frisco, Fairview and Allen responded.

"It's over for us as soon as we roll up our hose and go home. We always tell people, 'Sorry about your loss,' but not realizing the devastation in the aftermath. It's overwhelming," Fenn said.
A GoFundMe page was close to reaching its goal of $10,000 in donations Tuesday evening.
There have also been new clothes and food donations, as well as neighbors and fellow firefighters offering up their cars since the Fenns' were destroyed by fire.
Three McKinney firefighters had to be hospitalized after battling the blaze.
"They came in contact with the garage door. The garage door became energized during the fire, and so they felt a mild electrical shock," said assistant fire chief Tim Mock.
The firefighters were treated and released.
It took about seven hours for crews to clear the scene.
The Fenns expect to be displaced for about eight months.
They believe the fire started from a vehicle in the garage, but the cause is under investigation.
