The city of Allen's property tax rate has dropped by a penny but there’s more taxable property, which means the city will actually bring in more money.

The Allen City Council has approved its 2012 budget and property tax rate, according to the Allen American Star.

The property tax rate dropped by a penny but there’s more taxable property, which means the city will actually bring in more money.

Compared to July's proposed budget, the most significant changes will come from the tax rate reduction and the employment of six additional police officers for Allen ISD's School Resource Officer (SRO) program.
