Layoffs at Frontier Communications

Frontier Communications is laying off 1,000 employees, including some at its Allen location.

The telecommunications company made the announcement Thursday.

In an email to NBC 5 on Friday, spokesperson Gordon Shattles said 1,000 employees across Frontier's 29-state footprint have been affected by a 'company restructuring.'

Shattles didn't say how many workers are being cut from the Allen location, which serves as a customer call center.

Below is Shattles' entire response:

“Yesterday’s announcement is a meaningful and necessary next step toward realizing the full potential of our increased scale following the Verizon transaction. We are focusing our field staff on operational excellence and centralizing other support functions. This new structure will allow our teams in the field to focus on what is truly most important and what our customers expect—the delivery of an exceptional product and outstanding service

Unfortunately, Frontier employees in the Allen facility were impacted by the reorganization. The reduction of 1,000 Frontier employees is across our entire 29 state footprint, and the Allen facility will remain in operation.

Frontier is focused right now on ensuring all the members of the Allen team are treated with dignity and respect—recognizing their significant contributions to the organization.  Affected employees will be receiving severance and COBRA continuation benefits.

Frontier remains committed to improving the customer experience for our customers in the Dallas area and these changes will help us do that."
