Carrollton police say a man who broke into an apartment early Wednesday morning was shot by the resident.
The man entered the apartment through an unlocked patio door just before 5 a.m. at the Colonial Grand at Hebron Apartments on East Hebron Parkway, officers said.
The resident heard the alleged trespasser and shot him once in the chest.
The man is in critical condition at Medical City Hospital in Plano. He faces criminal trespass of a habitation charges.
Carrollton PD said they are familiar with the man and have previously encountered him in a similar trespassing situation. They have also previously arrested him for criminal mischief and DWI.
The apartment resident who shot the trespasser is fully cooperating with investigators.
