Activists to Demonstrate Against Sexual Violence at Baylor

Vigil is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m.

Activists are planning a candlelight vigil outside the home of Baylor University's president to protest what they regard as the university's weak policing of sexual misconduct, particularly by student athletes.

The Monday night vigil follows an ESPN report earlier this month about three students who said the Waco, Texas, school failed to act on allegations that they were sexually assaulted by a former football player later convicted in one case.

The group Survivor's Stand is urging sexual assault survivors or those who know one to gather outside Albritton House on the Waco, Texas, campus for Monday's brief vigil.

In a letter Sunday, Baylor President Kenneth Starr said university leaders' "hearts break" for victims of sex crimes. But he said privacy laws prevent the university from being more forthcoming about crimes.
