Abilene Man Gets 10 Years in Fatal Stabbing

A West Texas man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for fatally stabbing a man and injuring the man's adult son.

An Abilene jury sentenced 24-year-old Demarko Brown on Wednesday after finding him guilty of murder and aggravated assault.

Officials said Brown used a knife to kill Natosh Boy and wound Darius Bacchus during a July 2012 fight.

Brown had faced up to life in prison. He told jurors that he acted in self-defense. Prosecutor Jim Hicks tells the Abilene Reporter-News that Brown's age and lack of prior convictions likely contributed to the sentence length.
