AAA Says Texas Gas Price Average Drops 2 Cents to $2.23

Retail gasoline prices in Texas have dropped two cents this week for an average of $2.23.

AAA Texas said Thursday that this week's average for regular unleaded fuel is $1.10 less than last year.

Dallas drivers are paying the most on average at $2.25 per gallon while drivers in Amarillo are paying the least at $2.17.

Across the U.S., drivers are paying an average of $2.42, which is two cents less than a week ago.

The association says a steep decline in the cost of crude oil means gas prices may continue to drop in the near future.

Last week, crude oil prices declined by more than 10 percent because of abundant supplies, a stronger U.S. dollar and the possibility of even more oil entering the market soon.
