A 6-year-old boy is safe after someone briefly kidnapped him late Thursday night.

The boy was abducted at a gas station off Loop 12 and Jim Miller Road in Southeast Dallas.

His mother, Ashley Jones, said someone jumped in her car and drove off with her son inside when she ran inside to pay for gas..

After 30 minutes of searching, someone dropped the boy off at a nearby apartment complex. He was reunited with his mother just a few minutes later.

There was no immediate word on what happened to the person who took him and the mother's car.
