5 Held for Attempted Capital Murder: Police

3 adults and 2 juveniles are being held on investigative charges for two robberies in Haltom City as well as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted capital murder of a police officer which occurred in North Richland Hills, police say.

Police received a call about a robbery in Haltom City around 8 p.m., and an additional robbery was reported about 10 minutes later.

Around 10 p.m. Friday, a person called the police and said that a black passenger of a maroon Dodge Neon on Northeast Loop 820 near State Highway 26 had shot them. The caller said there were at least 4 other people in the car.

At around 10:20 p.m., police saw the car and attempted to pull them over. The person driving tried to get away, and police say a passenger fired a gun at the officers multiple times.

The vehicle stopped on Northeast Loop 820 in the area of State Highway 35. Officers from North Richland Hills took the five people in the car into custody. Police recovered a semi-automatic handgun from the vehicle.

They are being held on investigative charges for robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted capital murder of a police officer.

No names have been released, and police are currently investigating.
