3-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shot While Jumping on Bed: Police

Sheriff: George Coty Wayman apparently pointed a gun at the boy to make him stop jumping on a bed

A North Texas man has been charged in the fatal shooting of his 3-year-old stepson while allegedly trying to stop the boy from jumping on a bed.

Clay County jail records show 18-year-old George Coty Wayman of Bellevue was being held Thursday on capital murder and criminal trespass charges.

Records don't list an attorney to speak for Wayman, whose bond tops $500,000.

The shooting happened Tuesday at a travel trailer, where the family lived, near Vasthi.

Authorities say a 3-year-old North Texas boy has died after being accidentally shot in the head.

Dominic Tra'Juan Castro died Wednesday at a Wichita Falls hospital.

An affidavit says several people were at the home during the shooting. Sheriff Kenny Lemons says Wayman was charged after evidence didn't match witness statements.

Lemons says it appears Wayman pointed the gun at the boy to make him stop jumping on a bed.
